I think the Start Jumping .....
campaign could save some jobs, at least for a while, but, in my opinion, it is akin to bailing water in a sinking ship. It may slow the rate of the ship going down without changing the eventual outcome if full scale repairs cannot be made.
Given the estimated campaign percentages so far, using the $50 million projected loss thrown around and taking a WAG at other expenses reduced from not competing I would guess(optimistically I think) that the projected loss could be narrowed to $20 million. That still leaves a big hole, some of the Start Jumping funds(credits applied to next year) being a noninterest bearing short term loan and the uncertainties of an unsure athletic landscape(threatened suits and federal regulation) going forward. My opinion is that the day of reckoning for major college athletics is now upon us and what it really will look like going forward is anybody's guess. I also feel confident Mark Emmert and the current leadership of the NCAA is not qualified and equipped to handle the growing storm.
